Amai Glendale, which recently opened following Santa Monica and Torrance, is a cafe with a bright and cozy atmosphere. The interior, bathed in soft natural light, creates a comfortable mood, making it a spacious spot for both solo visits and hanging out with friends.
On this day, I ordered a variety of drinks including the Amai Signature, Vietnamese House Coffee, and matcha-based beverages like Banana Cream Matcha, Hojicha Einspanner, and Blueberry Matcha. Overall, the balance of the drinks was well-crafted, and the flavors of the ingredients were distinctly highlighted in each menu item.
The Amai Signature features a deep aroma of espresso that gently unfolds, followed by a soft sweetness that lingers. The first sip reveals a clean bitterness, but the finish is smooth, creating an overall pleasant balance. The cream’s texture is light, making it easy to savor a cup slowly, and true to Amai’s signature drink, it was both comforting and well-crafted. The Vietnamese House Coffee offers a rich extraction of coffee with a sweet aroma that blends smoothly, making its presence felt from the first sip. Rather than being a type that hits you with sweetness upfront, it integrates naturally into the rich coffee flavor, making it enjoyable without any heaviness. The finish is clean and distinct, making it a satisfying cup for those who appreciate both the bitterness and sweetness of coffee.
Banana Cream Matcha combines the rich flavor of matcha with the subtle sweetness of banana cream, creating a menu item that is enjoyable without being overwhelming. On the other hand, Blueberry Matcha presents a refreshing blend of berry notes and rich matcha, showcasing a harmonious balance without being excessive. If you prefer a sweeter and creamier vibe, I would recommend the Banana Cream Matcha, while if you lean towards something lighter and more refreshing, the Blueberry Matcha would be the way to go. Hojicha Einspanner features the unique roasted aroma of deep-roasted hojicha that spreads gently. The cream on top has a light texture, allowing the rich flavor of hojicha to shine through without being overshadowed, and the clean flow of taste from the first sip to the last was impressive. Overall, the sweetness is not overpowering, making it a great choice for those who enjoy the natural aroma of hojicha. This was also the most impressive drink I ordered that day.

Amai, which opened in Torrance following its Santa Monica location, is a cozy yet stylish café that stands out with its interior design. It offers a variety of bubble teas, coffees, and pastries, making it an attractive space where you can comfortably linger.
The menu features trendy drinks as well as classic options all in one place, boasting a spacious and comfortable environment with plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy at their leisure. We were faced with the delightful dilemma of choosing from a wide array of drinks and pastry options. Among them, we were particularly drawn to the Coco Coffee, Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, and the visually stunning Strawberry Croissant and Matcha Croissant.
First, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew was impressive with its sweet cream capturing the warm essence of autumn and the deep, rich flavor of cold brew. The cold and refreshing coffee taste is beautifully complemented by the smooth pumpkin cream, adding a sweet and nutty flavor. In particular, the cream is both dense and smooth, creating a perfect harmony with the coffee, allowing you to savor a rich taste with every sip. The Coco Coffee is a drink topped with a sweet and smooth coconut slush over a pour-over coffee, blending the rich coffee flavor with the sweet taste of coconut. The bold coffee taste and the refreshing sweetness of the coconut slush are perfectly balanced, and as someone who loves coconut, I found that harmony to be particularly special. If you enjoy coconut, you should definitely give Coco Coffee a try.
Next, the Strawberry Croissant and Matcha Croissant were desserts with their own unique charms. The Strawberry Croissant is coated with white chocolate, adding a sweet flavor, and inside the croissant is a smooth strawberry yogurt cream, allowing you to enjoy both a refreshing and nutty taste at the same time. The crispy texture of the croissant, the cream’s smoothness, and the sweetness of the white chocolate create a satisfying harmony with every bite. The Matcha Croissant is coated with matcha chocolate, allowing you to experience a rich matcha flavor, and topped with crunchy pistachios, adding a chewy texture and enhancing the flavor. The bitterness of the matcha is not too strong; instead, the sweet and nutty flavors are emphasized, making it pleasantly approachable.

Amai Coffee, located in Santa Monica, is a place where you can experience Asian-style coffee and pastries while enjoying the warm ambiance of white and wood interiors.
The café wasn’t very spacious, but the chairs were arranged in various places, making it feel relatively roomy even with many people around. We decided to try several menu items, including the Honeycomb Latte, Strawberry Matcha Latte, and Matcha Croissant.
The Honeycomb Latte, Amai Coffee’s signature drink, features espresso topped with organic honey and honeycomb. With each sip, the natural sweetness of the honey harmonizes beautifully with the bitterness of the espresso, allowing for a delightful caffeine boost along with a pleasant sweetness. The Strawberry Matcha Latte combines the bitterness of matcha with the freshness of strawberries, creating a consistently enjoyable flavor, while the milk wraps all the flavors in a balanced way.
The Matcha Croissant contains matcha cream inside a soft croissant. The cream is not overly sweet; instead, it has a subtle sweetness and just the right amount, making it perfect to enjoy alongside coffee.
