Supermarket-Style Hot Pot & BBQ Restaurant
Located in Rowland Heights, Chubby Mart is a unique space that combines a market and a restaurant. It operates in a way that allows customers to select their desired ingredients from displays arranged like a supermarket and enjoy them cooked right on the spot. The store is stocked with fresh seafood and meats, and the process of cooking the ingredients chosen by the guests creates a distinctive dining experience.

During this visit, I enjoyed hot pot with two types of broth: Lobster Broth and Beef Bone Broth. The Lobster Broth had a rich and smooth flavor, while the Beef Bone Broth had a robust meaty taste that was impressive. By adding various vegetables and ingredients, I was able to enjoy multiple combinations in a single meal. Additionally, the grill set up in the center of the table allowed for BBQ, making it an interesting arrangement to experience both hot pot and grilling simultaneously.

In addition to the hot pot, I ordered Wagyu Beef Skewers, Premium Lamb Lion Skewers, and Boston Lobster to enjoy together. The Boston Lobster could be chosen to be steamed or grilled, and we opted for the grill. The outside was lightly charred to enhance the flavor, while the inside remained moist, allowing the delicate taste of the seafood to shine through. The skewers were grilled immediately upon ordering, bringing out the distinct flavor of the meat, and alternating between the hot pot and skewers enriched the dining experience.
The store features various stations such as Bao Station, Skewers Station, and Fresh-Pressed Juice, allowing for a variety of menus to be enjoyed alongside the hot pot. There was also a sauce bar where guests could mix different sauces according to their preferences, which was impressive. The way the flavors changed depending on the sauces added to the basic ingredients added to the fun of enjoying the hot pot. After the meal, there were simple dessert options available, providing a natural conclusion to the dining experience.
