New Fall Menu
Following my last visit to DTLA, this time I stopped by Couplet Coffee in Echo Park to taste their fall season menu. The café has a bright and casual atmosphere, and the colorful accents and cute branding elements throughout the space instantly lifted my spirits as soon as I walked in. It was impressive to see people gathering for coffee from early in the morning, making it clear that this place is naturally loved by the neighborhood.

The fall season menu featured three options: Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Latte, Classic Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Maple Buttercream Madness. Among them, I chose the Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Latte with Matcha as the base that day.

The Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Latte had a rich matcha flavor with a gentle sweetness from the pumpkin and cream that blended smoothly. The sweetness was well-balanced, making it easy to enjoy, and the harmony of matcha and pumpkin surprisingly complemented each other, creating a delightful fall drink. The Classic Pumpkin Spice Latte featured a smooth combination of cinnamon and pumpkin, providing a clear sense of the season. I ordered it iced that day, but it would also be a great choice as a hot latte on a morning when you’re craving something warm. The Maple Buttercream Madness had a subtle sweetness from maple that spread gently. The buttercream had a light and cozy texture, making it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy, and it was my personal favorite among the drinks I ordered that day.

Making Coffee Fun & Approachable
Couplet Coffee, located in Echo Park and DTLA, is based on the philosophy of “Great coffee, but more fun and approachable,” aiming for a comfortable coffee culture that everyone can enjoy. The new DTLA location I visited was decorated with colorful hues and cute characters, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere. The interior had a charming yet trendy vibe, and in addition to coffee, there were options for matcha, various tea menus, and pastries to enjoy according to your taste.

During this visit, I chose a variety of unique signature drinks from Couplet Coffee. I ordered the Rosemary Passion Fruit Espresso Tonic, which combines refreshing citrus and herbal notes; Cafe De Olla, infused with the spicy flavors of traditional Mexican coffee; The Banana N’ Cream Matcha, a delightful blend of banana cream and matcha; and the visually appealing Double Matcha Strawberry Dream, which features rich matcha and strawberries, allowing me to compare their individual charms.

The Rosemary Passion Fruit Espresso Tonic created an exotic combination with the herbal aroma of rosemary and the refreshing taste of passion fruit mingling with the bitterness of espresso. The first sip enveloped my mouth with a citrusy freshness, followed by the deep flavor of espresso that left a unique yet clean finish. The fizzy carbonation added to its appeal, making it a perfect drink for summer. Cafe De Olla used homemade piloncillo and canela syrup, offering a sweet yet subtly spiced experience. The gentle sweetness was accompanied by a hint of cinnamon, providing a warm and cozy impression, allowing me to feel a distinct personality compared to a regular latte. Thanks to the moderate spice flavor, it was a cup that could be enjoyed comfortably.
The Banana N’ Cream Matcha was a drink that exuded dessert-like charm, with the sweet and creamy taste of banana meeting rich matcha. The creamy texture allowed the banana flavor to subtly spread, making it easy to drink, while the bitterness of the matcha balanced the sweetness, resulting in a stable overall flavor profile. The combination of sweetness and a hint of nuttiness created a unique yet comforting blend. The Double Matcha Strawberry Dream was visually captivating, featuring rich matcha topped with matcha cream and dried strawberry pieces. The rich matcha flavor combined with strawberry syrup offered a refreshing yet natural sweetness, making each sip diverse and enjoyable. Personally, this was my favorite drink among those I tasted this time, with an impressive harmony of sweetness and bitterness.
