Neighborly

A Curated Food Hall & Marketplace

Located in Thousand Oaks, Neighborly is a modern restaurant and marketplace where you can enjoy unique dishes from various chefs and creators all in one place. With a wide selection of brands including Gaby’s, The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills, Mini Kabob, Mixtape, Social Monk, and Flour Shop, there are plenty of options to choose from. Inside, there is a corner where you can purchase pre-prepared food and drinks, as well as lifestyle items like goods, cooking-related foods, and beauty products. The space seamlessly blends a restaurant and a market, making it enjoyable not only for dining but also for browsing.

We visited right at the opening time of 11 AM, and the indoor tables and outdoor terrace quickly filled up with guests, showcasing its popularity. The space has a sophisticated atmosphere with warm wood tones and natural light, making it perfect for a casual yet relaxed dining experience. With menus from various brands gathered in one place, we decided to order a variety of signature dishes from different brands. That day, we chose Gaby’s Green Rice Burrito Bowl, The Cheese Store Margherita Pizza, Dip Duo, Armen’s Deluxe Cheeseburger Wrap, and Only The Classics Crispy Chicken Sandwich.

The Gaby’s Green Rice Burrito Bowl, filled to the brim, looked healthy and had a well-balanced flavor. The subtle spiciness of the chipotle chicken combined with the creaminess of the avocado created a harmonious balance, while the corn and crispy rice bits added a delightful texture. The lime crema and sesame hot sauce provided a refreshing finish, making it a light yet satisfying meal. The staff also recommended it as their favorite dish, and after tasting it, I understood why. The dough of The Cheese Store Margherita Pizza was thin and crispy, providing a great texture, and the combination of cheeses was smooth and rich. The fresh tomato sauce and fragrant basil created a classic yet clean flavor. When paired with the pesto sauce that came with it, the cheesiness deepened, making it a simple yet high-quality margherita pizza.

Dip Duo came with hummus and tzatziki, crispy fried lavash chips, and freshly baked lavash, providing a great texture combination, while the spicy sauce added a nice touch to the overall flavor. It was a simple dish but offered a variety of flavors, making it a great side option. Armen’s Deluxe Cheeseburger Wrap delivered the rich flavor of the patty, blended with savory cheese and spices, as soon as I took a bite. The grilled tomato and pickles added just the right acidity to balance the overall taste, and the creamy sauce tied the ingredients together smoothly. The side sauce that came with it was slightly spicy yet savory, creating a different flavor each time it was paired.

Only The Classics Crispy Chicken Sandwich was a chicken sandwich that stayed true to the basics, just as its name suggests. It came in a yellow box that instantly lifted my spirits, and its visual appeal gave a warm impression from the start. The crispy fried chicken had a crunchy exterior and a moist, tender interior, providing a delightful texture, while the savory brioche bun wrapped the overall flavor smoothly. The tanginess of the pickles and the richness of the mayo combined to create a simple yet high-quality pairing.
