Korean Tofu & Pot Rice
Ondo, which has recently opened in Santa Ana, is a Korean restaurant specializing in stone pot bibimbap and soft tofu stew. The bibimbap served in a hot stone pot delivers the traditional flavors of Korea, while the carefully simmered soft tofu stew fills you with warmth through its rich and deep broth. In addition, a variety of Korean dishes such as bulgogi and japchae are available, allowing you to choose according to your taste. Thanks to the fresh ingredients and a cooking method that is light yet full of flavor, it provides a satisfying meal, making it a welcoming space for those seeking the warmth of Korean cuisine.

We ordered Bibimbap, Clam Tofu, Bulgogi, and Japchae from the various menu options. This allowed us to enjoy a range of flavors, from rice dishes to soup dishes, meat dishes, and noodle dishes.

The Bibimbap, served neatly, made my mouth water even before I took a bite, with fresh vegetables and meat harmoniously combined. The variety of ingredients and the nutty aroma created a light yet rich texture, and each spoonful brought a delightful mix of different ingredients. For reference, the main topping can be chosen between beef or tofu, allowing for a personalized experience. The Clam Tofu had the refreshing taste of clams infused into the warm broth. The soft tofu blended well with the broth, providing a comforting flavor, and the fresh clam meat added umami when enjoyed together with the broth. Adding the separately provided egg enhanced the nuttiness of the broth, allowing for an even smoother and deeper taste.
The Bulgogi featured thinly sliced beef marinated in a sweet seasoning, grilled to showcase a tender and moist texture. The combination of onions and vegetables added to the flavor, and the balance of sweet and salty made it perfect to pair with rice. Most importantly, the generous portion was satisfying. The Japchae had chewy glass noodles mixed with fresh vegetables, offering a light yet subtle sweetness. The crunchy texture of the vegetables complemented the noodles, creating a clean and harmonious flavor. The seasoning was not overpowering, making it easy to enjoy alongside other dishes, especially with rice or soup, completing a balanced and hearty meal.
