Fresh Ingredients, Rich Broths
Located in Rowland Heights, PiChaiYuan Hot Pot is a place where you can enjoy hot pot in a spacious and comfortable environment without any pressure. With plenty of seating, we were able to dine leisurely, and the self-serve bar allowed us to freely enjoy a variety of ingredients, making it particularly convenient to customize our selection of vegetables, seafood, sauces, and more. The overall satisfaction was high as we could indulge in drinks and desserts as well, and the staff were friendly and quick to respond, creating a comfortable dining atmosphere. It was also nice that we could choose from a total of five broths, allowing us to mix and match according to our preferences.

During this visit, we chose Combo C AYCE, and it was great that each combo had different types of meat and prices, allowing us to select according to our taste. We could choose two out of five broths, and we opted for the Original Broth and Spicy Broth Mild. The basic broth was perfect for enjoying a light flavor, while the spicy broth allowed us to choose the level of spiciness from Mild, Medium, and Hot, making it adjustable to our preferences. The Mild we selected had a subtle spiciness that whetted our appetite, and the combination of the two broths blended well together.

For the meats, we selected Beef Tongue, Sliced Youth-Lamb, and USDA Choice Ribeye. The thinly sliced meats cooked quickly in the broth, becoming tender and pairing well with both the light basic broth and the subtly spicy Spicy Broth Mild. The ribeye and lamb, in particular, were juicy and were the most frequently chosen combinations. We balanced our meal with vegetables like napa cabbage, bok choy, mushrooms, and pumpkin. The pumpkin became pleasantly sweet when cooked, helping to cleanse the palate between spicy or greasy ingredients, while the bok choy and mushrooms deepened the flavor of the broth, making us frequently refill those ingredients.
For seafood, we focused on squid and fish cakes. The squid had a chewy texture that was a highlight, and the fish cakes added umami to the broth, making it easy to eat a lot of them. Overall, the seafood section was also quite fresh. The Winter Melon Juice was particularly impressive as a drink. It was sweet yet subtly fragrant, making it great for refreshing the palate after eating the spicy broth, and it helped to balance the heaviness typical of AYCE dining. Additionally, the staff frequently refilled the broth and attentively took care of our table, which was satisfying. Thanks to the spacious environment and the self-serve bar setup, we could comfortably choose the ingredients we wanted, resulting in a good overall flow of service.
