Tang N Tang

Korean Comfort Food

Located in Irvine, Tang N Tang is a Korean restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of Korean dishes, including warm soup dishes, side menus, and cold noodles. With a diverse menu, it’s a great place to visit when you’re looking for a hearty meal. When we visited, the restaurant was bustling with customers, and there was even a waiting team for empty tables, which showed its popularity. Despite having ample seating, it quickly filled up, making it clear how much love this place receives.

We decided to try a variety of dishes here, including the Lunch Special cold noodle combo menu of Bossam (Half) + 2 Cold Noodles, along with Hot Pot Bulgogi and Galbi Jjim. The menu was plentiful, making it perfect for sharing multiple dishes together.

First, the cold noodle combo was satisfying in terms of both composition and value for money. The Bossam was tender and well-cooked without any off-flavors, and when enjoyed with the pickled radish, it was a clean and refreshing experience. We ordered both mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles); the mul naengmyeon had a cool and clean broth that paired well with the Bossam, while the bibim naengmyeon had a balanced seasoning that was not overwhelming but still flavorful, enhancing our appetite. Overall, it was a satisfying selection. The Hot Pot Bulgogi came in a warm stone pot, maintaining its heat until the end, which was delightful. The broth was sweet yet savory, and it was generously filled with thinly sliced beef, vegetables, and glass noodles, making it a hearty dish. It had a deep flavor without being overly stimulating, making it a great match with rice.

The Galbi Jjim was visually striking, capturing attention at first glance, and just looking at it made our mouths water. We chose medium spiciness, and it was less stimulating than we had feared, with a gentle heat that was easy to enjoy. If you usually like spicy food, you might want to opt for a spicier level. The seasoning was rich but not overly sweet, enhancing the flavor of the meat, and the aftertaste was clean, so it didn’t become tiresome. The ribs were tender and easily pulled apart with chopsticks, and the vegetables and rice cakes that came with it were well-coated in the seasoning, allowing us to enjoy every bite until the end.
