Handcrafted Sweets and Desserts
Located in Sherman Oaks, Toasted Verse is a dessert cafe centered around crepes, waffles, and pancakes. The minimally organized space combined with warm lighting creates an overall cozy atmosphere, making it a comfortable place to stay without feeling pressured. The calm arrangement rather than flashy elements matched well with the ambiance of the space.
This time, I ordered Crepe (Butter & Honey, Strawberry Spread), Waffle (Butter & Sugar), and Mini Pancakes (Belgian Chocolate) along with Iced Hazelnut Latte and Iced Americano. While the basic signature menu items are available, the ability to customize toppings and combinations to your liking was impressive. The crepe had a thin and soft texture, and the Butter & Honey combination, though simple, offered a subtle sweetness that flowed naturally. The Strawberry Spread added a refreshing fruity flavor, leaving a more distinct impression.
The waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, showcasing a faithful adherence to the basics. The Butter & Sugar combination was neatly arranged with a moderate sweetness, while the Mini Pancakes were served in bite-sized portions, making them easy to enjoy. The addition of Belgian Chocolate emphasized the sweetness, but overall, it was not heavy. The Iced Hazelnut Latte ordered alongside had a smooth, nutty aroma, and the Iced Americano was relatively refreshing, balancing well with the desserts. It played a role in stabilizing the overall composition, contrasting nicely with the sweet items.
