In this post, I would like to introduce Angels Flight Railway, where the history of the first train line opened in downtown LA is preserved.
Originally opened in 1901 and demolished in 1969, the Angels Flight Railway was restored in 1996. Although operations were temporarily halted in 2001 and 2013 due to safety concerns, it is now actively running a very short distance between Hill Street and California Plaza. Two trains continuously travel back and forth on the rails. The fare can be paid at the top, and you need to pay each time you go up or down, which is $1 per person as of 2024. A round trip costs a total of $2. (Check fares) Additionally, those with a TAP transit card can receive a small discount. Although it’s a short distance, you might feel as if you’ve traveled back in time to the 1900s.
