BB.Q Chicken

Korean Fried Chicken

Located in Lomita, BB.Q Chicken is a place where you can enjoy Korean-style fried chicken with about 14 different sauces, along with tteokbokki, kimchi fried rice, and various side dishes. With options ranging from spicy seasonings to sweet sauces, you can choose according to your taste, making it a casual spot that’s perfect for a quick visit when you’re craving Korean chicken.

We chose the Boneless S size with three flavors of chicken: Golden Original, Secret Sauce, and Cheesling, and ordered kimchi fried rice, rose tteokbokki, and corn salad as side dishes to enjoy a variety of flavors. The chicken can be selected from Whole Chicken, Boneless, or Wings, and you can choose from S, M, or L sizes along with different sauces, which made for a satisfying range of combinations.

First, we tried the three chicken flavors evenly. The Golden Original was a basic style of fried chicken that was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with a light batter that made it enjoyable without being heavy. I usually prefer seasoned chicken, but on that day, I found myself reaching for the fried chicken, which had a clean taste that was impressive without being greasy. The seasoning was not overpowering, allowing for a guilt-free enjoyment until the end, and it was a menu that anyone could comfortably eat. The Secret Sauce was a seasoned chicken with a sweet flavor and a subtle spiciness based on the Golden Original. The sauce lightly soaked into the crispy batter, enhancing the flavor without making it soggy, and the balance of sweet and salty was very appealing. Thanks to the moderate amount of seasoning, it was enjoyable without becoming tiresome. The Cheesling was chicken generously sprinkled with savory and sweet cheese powder, and from the first bite, the rich cheese flavor filled my mouth. The crispy texture combined with a subtle sweetness made it great for light snacking, and the emphasis on sweetness rather than saltiness made it overall not too stimulating. Among the three flavors, this was my personal favorite, and I highly recommend trying it if you love cheese.

The kimchi fried rice was a classic style, but that made it even more satisfying. It was not overly salty, and the well-fermented kimchi’s unique spicy and deep flavor was evenly infused into the rice, which was fluffy and well-cooked, providing a good texture. The rose tteokbokki was a dish where chewy rice cakes were well combined with a creamy and thick rose sauce. The emphasis was on creaminess rather than spiciness, making it not too stimulating, and surprisingly, it paired well with the chicken. The corn salad, an essential side, had a mayonnaise base with the texture of plump corn kernels, making it a great light accompaniment. Overall, it had a sweet and soft flavor that balanced well when eaten with the salty chicken.
