Boichik Bagels

NY-Style Bagels

Boichik Bagels, where you can taste New York-style bagels, is a bagel specialty shop that offers a variety of bagels, cream cheese spreads, sandwiches, and coffee. They knead and bake bagels that are chewy on the outside and soft on the inside, and their sandwich menu, which makes for a hearty meal, is also popular. It’s a great place to enjoy everything from a simple breakfast to a leisurely brunch.

We visited the Los Feliz location, and recently they opened a new store in downtown as well, so it might be nice to stop by a location near you. Here, after placing your order, you can enjoy your bagels at tables set up outside. Although there is no indoor space, the ample outdoor seating made for a comfortable dining experience. We chose ‘The Classic’ on a Pumpernickel bagel and ‘The Mensch’ on an Egg bagel, and we also ordered Egg Salad and coffee.

The Classic’s Pumpernickel bagel, paired with salty cream cheese and salmon, adds a rich flavor to the dish. The mild Pumpernickel bagel has a slightly bitter taste that balances well with the ingredients, and it becomes more nutty with each bite, having a relatively high density. It’s a combination that stays true to the basics without getting boring, so it might be nice to switch up the bagel types according to your taste. The Mensch’s Egg bagel has a mild flavor that anchors the dish, with the unique nutty and salty flavor of whitefish salad subtly spreading throughout. The harmony with the soft egg bagel was also great, resulting in a well-balanced taste overall, and the generous amount of ingredients made each bite feel satisfying. The Egg Salad was creamy yet not overly salty, making it easy to enjoy, and the moist egg blended smoothly in the mouth. It was so well-made that it was satisfying enough to eat on its own without the bagel.
