Cafe Dulce

Charming Cafe with Blueberry Matcha & Pastries

Located in Little Tokyo, Cafe Dulce is a popular cafe where you can enjoy a variety of pastries, coffee, and matcha drinks. The blueberry matcha latte, which highlights the sweet blueberry and rich matcha combination, is especially noted as the signature menu item here.

Being a popular spot, both the indoor and outdoor tables were bustling with people, and we had to wait a bit to place our order. While waiting, we browsed through the various pastries on display and decided to order a few tempting pastries along with a matcha latte and a blueberry matcha latte. First impressions of the matcha latte and blueberry matcha latte were captivating. The matcha latte offered a harmonious blend of nuttiness and slight bitterness, followed by a clean sweetness that left a deep aftertaste. The blueberry matcha latte had a refreshing blueberry aroma that subtly spread, allowing for a unique yet smooth and harmonious flavor experience. Personally, the blueberry matcha latte reminded me of the bubblegum flavor I used to chew as a child, and we found ourselves returning to Cafe Dulce several more times, enchanted by its unique charm.

The next pastries we ordered were the Creme Brule Bun, Matcha Creme Brule Bun, Mochi Twist, Green Tea French Toast, and Sausage Donut. First, the Creme Brule Bun had a crispy exterior and moist interior, filled with rich sweet cream that spread a soft and sweet flavor in the mouth. Especially, the caramelized taste unique to crème brûlée enhanced the flavor of the bread, allowing for a rich and deep taste experience. The Matcha Creme Brule Bun added matcha cream to the basic Creme Brule Bun, delivering a nutty and rich matcha flavor.

The Mochi Twist featured chewy mochi and soft bread, providing a delightful texture with every bite. The sugar sprinkled on top added a nutty yet slightly sweet flavor that blended well in the mouth. The Green Tea French Toast was a French toast subtly infused with green tea flavor, crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. While it had a relatively simple taste compared to other pastries, I personally preferred this style of bread, making it even more enjoyable. Lastly, the Sausage Donut, which I highly recommend, had a sausage inside a crispy donut, creating a delightful balance of savory and nutty flavors. The sauce drizzled on top was slightly spicy yet sweet, complementing the bread well, and although I initially thought it would be a common flavor, it surprisingly turned out to be the most delicious among the assorted pastries.
