Cafe Upper

Trendy Koreatown Cafe

In this post, I would like to introduce Cafe Upper, located in Koreatown. I visited around 1 PM on a Saturday, and although it was very crowded, fortunately, there were one or two seats available, so we managed to sit down.

There were many delicious-looking desserts and drinks, so it was hard to decide what to eat, but we ordered the signature menu items: Vienna Latte, Pistachio Einspanner, and Tiramisu Croffle.

After a short wait, our order arrived, and the drinks and desserts were so beautiful that I was already excited about how delicious they would be before even tasting them. First, I couldn’t imagine how well the flavors of pistachio and coffee would go together with the Pistachio Einspanner, but surprisingly, they matched perfectly. It seemed like there was cocoa powder on top of the cream, which might be why it had a slight mocha flavor, followed by the nutty aroma of pistachio. I would recommend this menu item to anyone who loves pistachios.

I expected the Vienna Latte to be very sweet, but it was less sweet than I thought, which was nice. The bitterness of the coffee blended smoothly with the cream in my mouth, making it very delicious. Lastly, the Tiramisu Croffle was larger than the croffles I had eaten elsewhere, as it was labeled as Jumbo Croffle on the menu. This tiramisu croffle comes with vanilla ice cream, which is indeed an unbeatable combination. I felt that one of Cafe Upper’s strengths is its moderate sweetness, as all the items we tried were not overly sweet but just right. Besides the Tiramisu Croffle, there were also croffles with flavors like strawberry, matcha, Lotus, and injeolmi, which were so delicious that I want to try the other flavors next time.
