Damo Tea House
Located in Koreatown, Damo is a café where you can comfortably enjoy a variety of drinks and teas, along with traditional Korean snacks and desserts, especially known for its matcha. The clean atmosphere and the menu that modernizes traditional sentiments are impressive, making it an ideal space for tea time.
We visited the café around 9 AM, and even at that early hour, it was already bustling with many people, showcasing Damo’s popularity. The menu was filled with intriguing drinks and desserts, but we decided to order the Matcha Einspener, Strawberry Einspener, Espresso Tonic, Da-Gwa Sampler, and Damo Waffle. As seen in the last photo, the sampler and Damo waffle created an atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional tea house, beautifully complemented by the vibrant drinks, adding a unique charm.
The Da-Gwa Sampler consisted of walnut cookies, dried persimmons, and yakgwa, allowing us to taste a variety of traditional snacks in one bite. Especially when dipped in the accompanying cream and red bean paste, each flavor felt even richer, and the overall mild sweetness made it enjoyable without being overwhelming. The Damo Waffle, made from mugwort rice cake, had a nutty and chewy texture that was appealing, and the subtly spreading mugwort aroma and light flavor made it a delightful dessert to enjoy.
Next, we tried the Matcha Einspener, which was one of the most anticipated items during this visit. Damo is well-known for its delicious matcha, and it certainly lived up to expectations. The rich and deep flavor of the matcha was impressive, and the cream on top enhanced that flavor even further. The harmony between the slightly bitter matcha and the smooth milk was perfect, providing a satisfying experience with every sip. The Strawberry Einspener we ordered alongside it was a drink where sweet strawberries and smooth milk blended harmoniously, with the freshness of the strawberries shining through while finishing cleanly without being excessive. It was a menu item I would especially recommend to strawberry lovers. Finally, the Espresso Tonic was a drink where the bitterness of the espresso and the refreshing tonic blended well together. Thanks to its unique refreshing carbonation, each sip felt invigorating, making it a perfect choice for enjoying on a hot summer day. It was a great drink to choose when you want to enjoy coffee in a different way.
