Handmade Dumplings & Noodles

Dumpling Bar, located in San Marino, is a casual restaurant where you can enjoy handmade dumplings, noodles, rice dishes, and a variety of Chinese menu items. It is bustling with local customers looking for a quick lunch during the day and families dining in the evening, making it a beloved spot among the locals. With a clean interior and a relaxed atmosphere, it is a great place to enjoy a warm meal, especially popular for its lovingly crafted handmade dumplings.

The menu featured a variety of dumplings, noodles, and rice dishes, and during this visit, we ordered Pork Xiao Long Bao, Chicken Wonton with Spicy Sauce, Steamed Chicken Dumpling, Beef Pot Stickers, Braised Beef Noodles Soup, Har Gow, Shao Mai, and Fried Rice with Shrimp. With different cooking methods and ingredients, the dishes were colorful and enjoyable like a feast, and the spread of food on the table was already exciting.

The first dish, Xiao Long Bao, had a thin skin filled with juicy broth that flowed out gently with the first bite. The flavor of the pork was rich yet not greasy, and dipping it in ginger soy sauce enhanced the umami. The Chicken Wonton with Spicy Sauce was a delightful dish with savory meat filling and a sweet-spicy sauce that really awakened the taste buds. The spiciness was just right, making it hard to stop eating, and the aroma of chili oil lingered pleasantly. The Steamed Chicken Dumpling was impressively light and clean in flavor. The dumpling skin was thin and chewy, and the filling was moist, providing a great texture. Next, the Beef Pot Stickers had a crispy exterior and a moist interior, creating a delightful contrast in texture. With each bite, the savory aroma of the meat spread, pairing well with the soy sauce.

The Braised Beef Noodles Soup had a deep and rich broth that was exceptional. The tender beef had a sweet and salty flavor reminiscent of braised meat, making it perfect to enjoy with the broth, and the umami intensified with each bite. The noodles were thick and chewy, blending well with the broth for a satisfying texture. Thanks to the rich yet clean broth, I found myself reaching for the last spoonful. Har Gow and Shao Mai each had their distinct charm. Har Gow was filled with plump shrimp inside a translucent skin, and with one bite, the chewy texture and delicate flavor spread. The skin was not thick, allowing for a soft enjoyment, and the warmth from being freshly steamed made it even tastier. Shao Mai had a moist filling with well-balanced seasoning, providing a rich flavor with every bite, and its small size made it easy to enjoy without feeling burdened. Both dishes had great texture and balance, making them perfect for a clean and enjoyable experience. Finally, the Fried Rice with Shrimp was stir-fried to perfection, with the texture of the shrimp intact, making it an excellent side dish.
