In Shared Reality
Harry Potter at Cosm is not just a screening of the original movie; it is designed in a Shared Reality format where the entire dome expands around a central screen, creating new spaces and presentations for each scene of the film. The most impressive aspect was the experience of revisiting a familiar movie while being immersed in a completely different way, allowing me to feel as if I was directly experiencing the world within the film.
As the movie begins, the gaze naturally follows the central screen, but with each scene transition, the visuals filling the entire dome move along, constantly expanding the space. It’s not just that the screen gets larger; the way the landscapes and atmosphere of Hogwarts envelop the surroundings creates a feeling as if you are stepping directly into the movie. Particularly, in the scene where the Hogwarts acceptance letters fly around, the letters filled the entire space, making the experience even more vivid, and in the wizard chess scene, the immersion felt as if a gigantic chessboard was unfolding right before my eyes. Even though I had seen the movie multiple times, it felt like I was witnessing new scenes.
What made the viewing experience even more enjoyable was the menu themed around Harry Potter. I was able to taste dishes that could be seen in the movie, such as House-made Shepherd’s Pie, Pretzel Wand & Cheese Dip, Chocolate Frog, Butterbeer, and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, and I was also satisfied with how the food was served in line with the flow of the movie. I could order additional menu items while watching the film, ensuring that the flow was not interrupted, and there were various options like Harry Potter-themed popcorn and cocktails, allowing for a richer enjoyment of the movie’s universe.
