Palm Springs Windmills
Located about two and a half hours from LA, Joshua Tree National Park is famous for its unique Joshua trees and beautiful landscapes. This place offers various hiking trails and rock climbing opportunities, and it is particularly known as an optimal spot for stargazing in the evening. Before introducing Joshua Tree National Park, I would like to first introduce another place: the Palm Springs Windmills.
This place is impressive with hundreds of windmills set up on vast plains, and it is known as a great spot for visitors to enjoy taking photos. You can appreciate the peaceful scenery harmonizing with the surrounding natural landscape, so it would be nice to stop by for a moment while passing through.

Where Two Deserts Meet
After passing the Palm Springs Windmills and heading towards Joshua Tree National Park, we could see countless Joshua trees with their sharp leaves and elongated branches, along with massive rock formations and various desert plants in harmony. The unique landscape here made it feel like we had entered another world, and we could truly appreciate the wonders of nature amidst the desert’s tranquility.
We visited around mid-October, and the weather was cool with a perfect temperature for walking under the warm sunshine. If you are planning to hike or camp, I recommend visiting around this time. It’s not too hot, making it a comfortable time to enjoy the desert’s breathtaking scenery.
Skull Rock & Keys View
Additionally, I recommend Skull Rock and Keys View as must-visit points in Joshua Tree National Park. Skull Rock Trail is one of the popular hiking trails, approximately 1.8 miles long and relatively short and easy, making it suitable for families and beginner hikers. The trail’s name comes from the massive rock that resembles a skull, Skull Rock, and the unique rock formations created by nature capture the attention of visitors.
Keys View is one of the highest viewpoints in Joshua Tree National Park, offering a place to enjoy beautiful panoramic views. Especially at sunset, the sky painted in golden hues blends with the vast desert landscape, creating a fantastic spectacle, making it a popular spot for photography. Keys View allows visitors to easily appreciate the park’s expansive scenery with just a short walk after a drive, making it a recommended spot for those who may find hiking daunting.
