Coffee. Art. Culture
KAFE, which is set to open soon in West Hollywood, is a space where you can experience coffee in a deeper and more unique way. The modern and minimalist interior, completed in silver tones, creates a sophisticated atmosphere, and the sensory details throughout the space are also noticeable. From familiar coffees to menus that highlight the individuality of the beans, and signature drinks with creative combinations, KAFE offers a wide range of options that build anticipation even before its official opening.

The coffee menu at KAFE is interesting in that it is structured like a journey, starting from familiar flavors and gradually allowing you to experience new tastes and expressions. This time, I was able to taste a variety of options including Espresso, Cappuccino, Cold Brew, as well as the signature menu items Blacktop, Saffron Matcha, and Custard Donut. Each menu item has its own unique charm, making it enjoyable to compare and savor them one by one.

Espresso is a private blend using beans from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Brazil, allowing for a clearer appreciation of the coffee’s inherent flavors. The Cappuccino made with the same blend becomes smoother with the addition of milk, enhancing its natural sweetness and deep flavor, making it enjoyable to sip. The Cold Brew showcased the bright and refreshing charm typical of light roast coffee, offering a different personality from the familiar cold brew, allowing for an experience of the diverse expressions of coffee. Most impressively, KAFE’s philosophy that even the most familiar coffee requires more care and balance was naturally embodied in each classic cup of coffee.
The signature menu also showcased KAFE’s unique character well. The Blacktop combines Espresso with Cinnamon, Cardamom, Date Syrup, and Greek Yogurt, harmonizing the subtle aroma of cinnamon with a smooth sweetness, making it pleasantly enjoyable without being overwhelming. The Saffron Matcha added a layer of smoothness and unique charm with the bitterness of matcha complemented by the nuttiness of Pistachio Milk and the delicate aroma of Saffron. The Custard Donut we tasted together had a light sprinkle of sugar on the outside and was filled with soft custard cream, not overly sweet, making it a perfect pairing with coffee.
