Luxury Ramen Restaurant
Located in Beverly Hills, Kazan is a ramen restaurant that has been selected in the Michelin Guide for four consecutive years. Chef Ryu Isobe, with over 15 years of experience, makes the noodles and broth from scratch, characterized by a harmony of authenticity and creativity. The interior of the restaurant boasts a modern yet sophisticated atmosphere, making it suitable for both casual dining and special occasions. Thanks to the deep flavors and delicate details in each bowl of ramen, it has consistently been a beloved spot.

We spent quite some time pondering over the menu to decide on the combinations we wanted to taste. Since ramen is the main attraction, we couldn’t miss out on the signature dishes and wanted to compare various styles, so we ordered Lamb in Lava, Chasu Supreme, and Fire-Wok Made Tsukemen Ise. Feeling that ramen alone might not be enough, we also chose some appetizers, adding Wagyu Royale Sando, Osaka Tempura Shrimp, and A5 Wagyu Ribeye Carpaccio, which quickly filled our table. It was a choice made to truly experience the charm of Kazan through a variety of flavors.

Lamb in Lava was a dish that made a strong impression from its visual appeal. With three different thicknesses of noodles, the texture was diverse, and the addition of lamb chops enhanced the depth of the broth. True to its name, the rich broth infused with the flavor of lamb showcased a unique charm, and the spicy taste combined with cilantro was both robust and clean. It was my first time having ramen with lamb, and it was a surprisingly harmonious experience. Chasu Supreme delivered a deep and delicate flavor from the very first spoonful of broth. The chicken broth enriched with truffle was rich yet subtly sweet, finishing cleanly, while various ingredients came together to create layers of flavor. The thin signature noodles blended naturally with the broth, and with the addition of a soft, moist egg and tender chashu, it presented a high level of harmony in one bowl. Overall, it was a ramen that offered a luxurious taste without being overwhelming, and personally, it was a dish I enjoyed so much that I would highly recommend it. Fire-Wok Made Tsukemen was a dish that certainly made an impact, just as its name suggests. The thick sauce delivered a spicy yet subtly sweet flavor with every bite, and the added truffle aroma provided depth. Dipping the wide, thin noodles into the sauce resulted in a chewy texture and a rich flavor that filled the mouth. With a consistency closer to sauce than broth, the flavor became even more concentrated when eaten with the noodles, showcasing a unique appeal.
The Wagyu Royale Sando immediately stimulated my appetite with its delicious aroma. Between two slices of crispy toasted bread, a thick wagyu patty and cheese came together, and with one bite, the juicy and savory flavors were conveyed perfectly. The addition of sauce brought a spicy yet salty umami that created a unique harmony, making it a menu item that provided satisfaction beyond a simple sandwich. The Osaka Tempura Shrimp featured large shrimp that were fried to a crisp, looking appetizing from the start. Thanks to the thin and light batter, the natural texture of the shrimp was well preserved, and the popping pepper aroma enhanced the umami. The three accompanying sauces offered options of freshness, spiciness, and creaminess, allowing for a different combination of flavors to enjoy with the shrimp each time. The A5 Wagyu Ribeye Carpaccio was a menu item that exuded luxury. The thinly sliced wagyu melted softly in the mouth, leaving a subtle flavor that lingered. The simple seasoning and accompaniments did not detract from the taste of the wagyu but rather highlighted it, providing a clean yet rich satisfaction. It was a well-suited menu item as a light yet impactful starter.
