We have visited this place quite a few times, and each time, it was bustling with people enjoying matcha. Even in the quiet and calm atmosphere, it was easy to feel the consistent interest and popularity of Kettl’s teas. So far, we have tasted a variety of items including Shirakawa (Uji) Matcha Latte, Houjicha Latte, Sparkling Matcha, and Sobacha Ice Cream Bar, each drink having its own distinct character, providing new delights with every visit.
The Shirakawa (Uji) Matcha Latte had an impressive smooth and fine matcha flavor, leaving a subtle sweetness and a clean aftertaste rather than bitterness. It felt like there was less milk compared to other matcha lattes, allowing the matcha flavor to come through more clearly, giving an overall impression that was refreshing and clean rather than heavy. The Sparkling Matcha was a delightful combination of tangy and slightly bitter flavors, perfectly refreshing with the carbonation. The fizz was not overwhelming, making it easy to enjoy, and it was a recommended menu item for those wanting to experience matcha in a lighter and cleaner way.
The Houjicha Latte harmonized the roasted tea’s unique nutty and warm aroma with smooth milk, resulting in an overall comforting taste that anyone could enjoy without hesitation. The nutty flavor was particularly pronounced, making this menu item more suited to my taste than the matcha latte. The Sobacha Ice Cream Bar had the distinct nuttiness of buckwheat tea subtly blended into the ice cream, and it was not sweet, allowing for guilt-free enjoyment until the end. Overall, it had a light and refreshing taste, reminiscent of familiar yet unique desserts, instantly bringing to mind the flavor of misutgaru. The texture was smooth, making it perfect for a clean finish.
