Must Visit Omakase Spot
Kogane, located in Alhambra, was a place where you could enjoy omakase in a calm and tidy atmosphere. Overall, the clean and quiet space allowed for a natural focus on the meal, and from the bar seats, you could watch the chef’s hands closely while calmly continuing through the course.

This place operates on a reservation basis, and the menu changes daily, which is something to keep in mind. The omakase of the day started with Zuke Chu Toro, followed by Tai and Hotate, and then smoothly transitioned to Shirako Yuzu Ankake and Itoyori Karaage. The Dry Aged Bluefin Tuna and Dry Aged Toro served in the middle were particularly impressive, as the deep umami flavor from the aging was distinctly felt, naturally continuing the tempo of the course with Aji. Overall, the freshness of the ingredients was well showcased, and it was satisfying to feel the distinct condition of each course.

The Homemade Sesame Tofu with Uni served as an intermediate course stood out with its soft and nutty texture, providing a moment to catch your breath during the overall course, and then the flavors of fish were concentrated again with Iwashi, Sawara, and NegiToro Temaki. The Daily Miso Soup had a clean and light taste, and the finish was neatly rounded off with Anago, Tamago, and Black Sesame Ice Cream. Overall, the course was well-balanced without being excessive, and thanks to the freshness of the ingredients and Chef Roe’s calm explanations, I was able to enjoy and understand each dish.
