A Still Place for Your Daily Grind
Located in Brea, Still Coffee & Treats is a sensory cafe centered around coffee and desserts, just as its name suggests. The warm wood-toned interior and soft music create a comfortable atmosphere that is also conducive to focus. I visited around 9 AM, and despite the early hour, the place was already bustling with many guests, with people either taking coffee to go or leisurely enjoying their time.

The coffee menu is diverse, ranging from classics to seasonal limited editions, and the desserts are said to be freshly prepared every day. During this visit, I ordered the signature menu item, The Usual, along with the fall seasonal limited items Red Bean Matcha and Shaken Espresso, as well as Kouign-Amann and Ube Cruffin. This selection was perfect for enjoying coffee and pastries together, making it an ideal combination for the morning hours.

The Usual, which I ordered first, was impressively neat and balanced in flavor, just as its name suggests. The rich espresso blended smoothly with the creamy milk, finishing cleanly, with the Housemade Cream Top adding a special touch. The cream had a slightly dense texture but melted lightly in the mouth, adding just the right amount of sweetness that suited my taste perfectly. The natural aroma of the coffee and the soft sweetness of the cream harmonized beautifully, leaving a lasting impression. The Red Bean Matcha, as a fall limited menu item, offered a gentle sweetness from the red beans that blended harmoniously with the bitterness of the matcha, spreading smoothly. The sweetness was not overwhelming, allowing for a comfortable enjoyment until the end, and the mini yakgwa on top added a nice touch, giving the impression of having a dessert alongside. The combination of red beans and matcha was surprisingly well-matched, leaving a warm aftertaste without being overly sweet. Overall, it had a harmonious and comforting flavor, presenting a different soft charm from coffee. The Shaken Espresso (Holiday Edition) featured a richly shaken espresso with warm spices, creating a cozy aroma with each sip. The initial taste was bold and heavy, but it left a subtle sweetness and warm spice finish, embodying the charm of a seasonal limited menu.
The Kouign-Amann had a crispy exterior and a moist, layered interior, with a strong buttery flavor. With each bite, a gentle sweetness spread, and the texture crumbled softly, enhancing the nuttiness when enjoyed with coffee. The Ube Cruffin was filled with ube cream inside a finely layered croissant dough. The soft and sweet ube cream combined with the crispy exterior created a fragrant sweetness, and the cream was light enough to enjoy comfortably until the end. It was great as a dessert, but paired with rich coffee, the sweetness became even more pronounced, making it a perfect combination.
