Tartine Bible

Toast. Topped. Trusted.

Tartine Bible, which recently opened in Silver Lake, offers French-style open sandwiches topped with a variety of ingredients on crispy sourdough. The bread, crunchy yet rich in flavor, is complemented by fresh and colorful toppings, delivering a burst of taste with every bite. It’s not just a simple sandwich, but a special experience that leaves a lasting impression as a proper meal.

It’s worth noting that there is no indoor seating; only outdoor tables are available, and the sign and ordering area are designed in the shape of a toast, adding a charming touch. The tone-down pink-brown chairs and tables create a warm yet stylish atmosphere, making it a great spot for a casual meal. During this visit, I chose the Smoked Salmon & Arugula and Sweet & Sour open sandwiches, and ordered a Double Matcha Latte and Master of Banana Latte to drink. Even before the food arrived, the nutty and appetizing aroma heightened my anticipation.

As soon as the sandwiches and drinks arrived, the beautiful plating made for a visual delight. The Smoked Salmon & Arugula combined the savory flavor of smoked salmon with the freshness of arugula, creating a clean and balanced taste. The crispy yet soft sourdough enhanced the nuttiness with every bite, and the fresh ingredients made it easy to enjoy until the end. The Sweet & Sour was a style I had never tried before, and I was half worried and half excited, but it turned out to be a sandwich that perfectly hit my taste. The creamy mascarpone cheese had a subtle lemon freshness that added a zesty touch, and the roasted walnuts provided a crunchy texture. In the end, the gentle sweetness of honey wrapped up the overall flavor smoothly, leaving a clean finish. The refreshing yet deep combination lingered pleasantly for a while.

Visually, the deep green color stood out, and from the first sip, the unique depth of matcha was clearly conveyed. The sweetness and bitterness were well-balanced, making it a drink that would suit those who appreciate the smooth charm of matcha. Blending with the nutty milk, the overall balance was stable, allowing it to be enjoyed effortlessly alongside the meal. The Master of Banana Latte was a drink with a striking sweet banana flavor. The creamy banana cream on top blended with the milk to create a smooth and rich taste, while the subtly spreading banana aroma enveloped the entire drink. However, it didn’t feel heavy and flowed cleanly, allowing for a comfortable enjoyment until the end, providing a dessert-like satisfaction.
