Located in Burbank, The Girl & The Chicken is a place where you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a casual atmosphere that is both healthy and satisfying. The restaurant is on the smaller side but has a quick turnover, and during my visit, it was bustling with diners enjoying their meals, creating a lively ambiance. As a result, it left an impression of being a space that is easy to drop by without any pressure.
On this day, I chose various menu items centered around the Half + 2 sides + 1 sauce set. The main chicken was impressive with its crispy exterior and moist interior, thanks to a 48-hour marination that allowed the seasoning to naturally permeate the meat. It was not overly greasy and had a light flavor, embodying the concept of ‘Deliciously Healthy.’ The Sweet Potatoes & Beets I selected as a side had a natural sweetness and a soft texture, and the accompanying labneh sauce added a refreshing and creamy touch, making the combination particularly delightful. The Turmeric Chimichurri Rice played a role in neatly tying the overall composition together with its subtle spice flavors.
The Everyone’s Favorite Spice Bowl I ordered alongside was a balanced combination of chicken, grains, vegetables, and sauce, providing a satisfying meal on its own. The soft ingredients and crunchy textures alternated, and the subtle spice flavors and sauce points kept it enjoyable until the end. The Mediterranean Wrap was easy to enjoy, wrapped in a soft spinach wrap instead of a tortilla, filled with fresh vegetables and chicken, and the creamy sauce and refreshing elements made it a menu item that you could eat without hesitation. It was impressive how it provided enough fullness for a simple meal.
The Sauce Mezze Platter offered a variety of sauces like Chimichurri, Labneh Harissa Sauce, and Tzatziki, making it particularly useful when ordering multiple items. The generous portion of hummus served with pita chips allowed for the fun of dipping each sauce and comparing them, while also seamlessly connecting the flow of the table with chicken or sides.
