The Olive Restobar

Made From Scratch Cuisine

The Olive RestoBar, located in Downey, is a restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of Mediterranean-style dishes in a modern yet casual atmosphere. The vibrant ambiance was impressive, as it was bustling with guests during my visit, and the spacious indoor area along with outdoor seating made it look like a great place for larger groups. Overall, the relaxed layout made it feel like a perfect spot for enjoying meals with family or friends.

During this visit, I ordered the appetizers Deviled Filet Mignon and Crispy Cauliflower, along with King Kabob, Grilled Lamb Chops, and non-alcoholic cocktails Virgin Pina Colada and Minty Mango Mock-jito. The menu offered a wide range of options from meals to drinks and desserts, and it was impressive how much attention was given to the plating of each dish. Overall, it felt like a fun place to enjoy a variety of dishes together.

The King Kabob was the most impressive dish during this visit. The vertical skewer presentation caught the eye, and it was a dish that made its presence felt the moment it arrived at the table. The generously served Ribeye Steak had a tender texture that was remarkable, and the flavors naturally developed with each bite, enhancing satisfaction. The garlic fries, grilled tomatoes, jalapeños, and chimichurri sauce provided various combinations to enjoy, and the overall balance of the dish was excellent. Both the plating and taste were satisfying, making it feel like a great dish to share with others.

The Grilled Lamb Chops were impressive with their tender texture and rich meaty aroma, cooked just right to allow the unique appeal of lamb to shine through. The mashed potatoes served alongside were soft and creamy, pairing well with the lamb, adding balance to the overall composition. The Deviled Filet Mignon featured pan-seared filet mignon combined with bell peppers, red onions, and jalapeños, showcasing a richer flavor, and the ingredients blended together to create a robust taste. The Crispy Cauliflower had a delightful crunch and paired well with the main dishes. Each menu item had its own unique charm, making it enjoyable to experience a variety of flavors.

The Virgin Pina Colada and Minty Mango Mock-jito I ordered as drinks were also satisfying. The Virgin Pina Colada had a smooth texture with the tropical fruit flavors flowing naturally, while the Minty Mango Mock-jito combined the sweetness of mango with the refreshing taste of mint, making it a delightful choice. Notably, this place not only had a variety of cocktail options but also prepared several types of non-alcoholic cocktails for those who do not drink, allowing everyone to enjoy the atmosphere. The Glass of Guava I ordered for dessert combined guava gelato with sweet mango sauce, allowing for a full experience of fruity flavors, and the Limon Delight, centered around a refreshing lemon gelato, was perfect for a clean finish after the meal.
