Taiwanese-American Fusion Snacks and Drinks
Bopomofo Cafe, located in San Gabriel, is a popular cafe where you can enjoy Taiwanese and American fusion-style snacks and a variety of bubble teas.
The interior of the cafe is spacious with plenty of tables, creating a relaxed atmosphere that makes it a perfect place to spend time with friends or family. We ordered the Chicken Sandwich Mapo Combo and the Honey Walnut Shrimp Burger with Tots for lunch, along with Strawberry Basil Ginger Lemonade and Carrot Matcha Latte as drinks.
The Chicken Sandwich Mapo Combo consists of a Chicken Sandwich and Mapo Tots, with the option to choose between spicy and regular flavors for the sandwich, and whether to add cheese to the Mapo Tots. Taking a bite of the sandwich, the crispy chicken and tangy sauce mixed with the cabbage slaw created a harmonious blend in my mouth, and it was very delicious without being greasy. The Mapo Tots featured slightly spicy mapo tofu, ground pork, and a generous amount of cheese on top of the Tots, offering a unique flavor experience. Initially, it seemed like a combination that wouldn’t work well together, but it had a strangely appealing taste that kept me reaching for more. The Honey Walnut Shrimp Burger had a thick shrimp patty topped with a sweet sauce and romaine lettuce, creating a delightful flavor harmony, and it had a rich yet nutty taste. I was worried it might be too sweet before ordering, but it turned out to be very light and enjoyable without any heaviness.
The Strawberry Basil Ginger Lemonade was a drink that combined the freshness of strawberries with a subtle hint of ginger, and its refreshing taste paired well with the sandwich. The Carrot Matcha Latte was a drink that piqued my curiosity with its combination of carrot and matcha; the smooth carrot and rich matcha blended together to create a nutty yet naturally sweet flavor, making it a very attractive drink.
