Camel

Camel Coffee, a famous coffee shop from South Korea, has opened its first location in Los Angeles, USA. It has already gained popularity through word of mouth, and I was curious about what features make it so appealing, so I decided to visit.

Even though it was early on a weekend morning, there was already a long line, and as time went on, I could see the line growing, which made me realize just how popular it is. When ordering, customers write down their menu choices on a piece of paper, tear off a part with their name, and give it to the staff, while the order form is handed to the barista. This part seemed like a fun performance element. The barista immediately starts making the coffee upon receiving the paper, and when the coffee is ready, it is handed over while calling out the customer’s name. I was also impressed by how the barista carefully explained the coffee and how to enjoy it when handing it over to the customer.

We ordered Camel Coffee, Camel Latte, Cream Cup, Camel Matcha, and Kouign Amann and Pain au Chocolat. Camel Coffee consists of Cream + Milk + Espresso, and as the cream mixes with the espresso, the strong flavor of the espresso is mellowed out, allowing for a smooth coffee taste. Camel Matcha is made with Cream + Milk + Matcha, and upon taking a sip, the rich matcha flavor comes through, followed by the sweet cream, making it so delicious that I wished there was more.

Camel Cup contains Vanilla Syrup + Cream + Espresso, and with a capacity of 3oz, it’s just the right amount for an espresso. The rich aroma and flavor of the espresso are present, while the aftertaste is sweetened by the vanilla syrup and cream.

Camel Latte is made with Orange + Choco + Milk + Espresso, and I was very curious about what the flavor would be like with orange and chocolate in a latte. After receiving the drink, I mixed it, and the chocolate that had settled at the bottom began to blend in, changing the color to that of rich chocolate milk. The taste was sweet like a chocolate latte, but the refreshing flavor and aroma of orange subtly followed, making it incredibly delicious. If I visit again, one of the reasons will definitely be for the Camel Latte.

This place also sells a variety of breads, among which Kouign Amann is a traditional French bread from the Brittany region. It features caramelized sugar that melts and creates a crispy exterior, while the inside is filled with the rich aroma of butter. It offers a delightful combination of sweetness, nuttiness, and crispiness, making it a perfect match for coffee. Pain au Chocolat is similarly a classic French bread, with layers of croissant dough and chocolate inside, allowing you to enjoy the buttery flavor and the sweetness of chocolate. I would recommend it for those who prefer pastries filled with sweet chocolate.
