When thinking of museums or must-visit attractions in LA, one that surely comes to mind is The Getty Center. This place not only showcases outstanding works of art but also boasts beautiful architecture and landscapes. Even if you don’t have a strong interest in art, experiencing the unique design of the Getty Center, its sunny gardens, and stunning city views makes it a worthwhile visit. First, you need to make a reservation to visit the Getty Center, which you can do by selecting your desired date and time on their website.
For your information, admission to the Getty Center is free, but you need to pay a $20 parking fee if you drive. After parking, you should head to the tram boarding area, where you need to stand in line to confirm your reservation before boarding the tram. Once your reservation is confirmed, you can line up to take the tram, which runs continuously, so you won’t have to wait long. This was our second visit to the Getty Center; during our first visit, we focused mainly on the art pieces. This time, we came to explore the museum grounds and admire Vincent van Gogh’s Iris. The weather was truly sunny, and the sky was a deep blue, making the beauty of the Getty Center even more striking. Walking around and enjoying the beautiful scenery under the sunlight, I felt the charm of this place even more deeply.
I started by exploring the garden area with a cup of coffee in hand, and I noticed many people sitting on the grass enjoying their time. While there were many visitors there to see the artworks, I felt that there were just as many people like me who came to enjoy the leisurely atmosphere of the Getty Center. This place felt like a special space where one could savor nature and art in a relaxed environment, beyond just being a location to appreciate art.
As I went up to the upper part of the Getty Center, I was able to enjoy a stunning view like in the pictures, and I couldn’t help but admire the scenery. Just exploring the Getty Center felt like a healing experience for my heart, and spending leisurely time amidst the beautiful landscape was a special experience that took me away from my daily routine.
And the Iris by Van Gogh, which I really wanted to see. There were so many people wanting to see this piece that it stood out among the other artworks, attracting a particularly large crowd. Thanks to the crowd, I was able to take a photo only after waiting a bit while enjoying it from the back. Finally, I stopped by the gift shop, where a variety of merchandise themed around the Iris was on display, catching my eye. There were several items featuring Van Gogh’s Iris, such as postcards, mugs, and art books, which seemed like great special souvenirs to gift.
