K Pasa

Korean Mexican Fusion Eatery

K Pasa, located in Koreatown, combines traditional Mexican recipes passed down through generations with Korean ingredients, offering a variety of modern Mexican dishes including tacos and burritos. Thanks to the familiar yet new combinations, even those unfamiliar with Mexican food can enjoy it comfortably, making it an interesting experience for those seeking something different. The interior has a casual yet stylish atmosphere, making it a great space for a light meal or a leisurely gathering with friends.

Since it was our first visit, we slowly browsed the menu and chose a variety of standout dishes. We selected three types of tacos: Korean Short Rib, Pork Belly, and Birria. Additionally, we ordered the crispy, stuffed Krunch Wrap, a rich Consomme, the uniquely flavored Birria Ramen, and the generously topped K Pasa Nachos. We were excited to see how Korean and Mexican styles would blend together.

The first dish we tried was the Korean Short Rib taco, featuring smoky short ribs as the main ingredient. The meat was sweet and familiar, leaving a strong impression from the first bite. Pairing it with a spicy sauce enhanced the balance of sweet and salty, making it a dish that Korean palates could enjoy without hesitation. The Pork Belly taco had a flavor reminiscent of spicy marinated bulgogi, subtly spicy with a hint of sweetness that harmonized well. It paired nicely with the Mexican-style toppings and tortilla, making it an overall easy and comfortable dish to enjoy. The Birria Taco felt the most traditional among the three, packed with tender meat that was juicy, and dipping it in the separate Consomme intensified the flavor of the meat. It had a deep taste without being overwhelming, making it a satisfying dish to savor.

The Krunch Wrap was similar to a burrito without rice, resembling a thick sandwich overall. Inside the tortilla, layers of meat, vegetables, and cheese created a variety of flavors in each bite, with a soft and dense texture. It was a simple yet hearty option, suitable as a meal replacement. The K Pasa Nachos caught our attention with their generous portion and abundant toppings. Crispy nachos were piled high with meat, cheese, salsa, and cream, allowing for a rich flavor experience with each bite. The ample toppings ensured that there were no leftover nachos, making it a great dish to share among several people. It was also highly satisfying as a side dish, and would pair well with beer or other beverages.

Finally, the most impressive dish was the Birria Ramen, which, as the name suggests, featured a rich meat broth in a Mexican style with ramen noodles added. The broth was thick and hearty, not spicy but full of deep umami flavor that kept the spoon moving. The noodles were soft and blended well with the broth, giving a feeling more akin to enjoying a unique hangover soup rather than traditional ramen. Personally, it was the most delicious and satisfying dish I had during this visit, and I would highly recommend it for a hearty meal.

K Pasa

I usually enjoy Mexican food, and the elements of Korean cuisine that I’m familiar with blended so naturally that I was able to enjoy it much more comfortably, resulting in a meal that exceeded my expectations. Although it was my first visit, I could fully appreciate the unique character of this place by tasting a variety of dishes, and I’m already looking forward to what combinations I will choose next time.
