Los Angeles County Museum of Art
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, known as LACMA, holds the largest art collection in the western United States. Since its opening in 1961, the museum has housed over 120,000 works, showcasing art from various cultures and eras around the world, from ancient times to the modern day.
On the day we visited, it rained heavily. However, isn’t a museum or gallery one of the best places to go on a rainy day? Sure enough, despite the rain, many people came to the museum to enjoy the exhibits. Since we had purchased our tickets online in advance, we were able to show our tickets at the entrance, receive a map, and enter right away.
There were several exhibition halls, and we decided to explore them one by one. Although I don’t have much knowledge about art, I find it enjoyable to interpret the works in my own way while considering the mindset and social atmosphere of the era they represent.
There were also artworks that depicted the city in three dimensions, as well as various modern pieces. Some were quite interesting, while others were difficult to understand.
I try to empathize for a moment with the era that once flourished and what it sought to pursue.
While exploring the interior of the museum, there is a space where you can see actual stuffed animals, and there were many animals that are hard to see in everyday life. Each exhibition hall offers a variety of themed exhibitions, and it would be nice to take your time and enjoy them leisurely.
