Korean Specialty Cafe
LADD Coffee, located within Haven City Market in West Covina, is a newly opened cafe where you can enjoy a variety of specialty drinks and desserts. The overall minimalistic atmosphere was impressive, and there was plenty of outdoor seating, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. Being situated inside Haven City Market, it’s perfect for a light stop after a meal or a nice spot to take a break with a cup of coffee.
During this visit, I ordered the Strawberry Matcha, Key Lime Cream Top, and TYS Cream Top along with Smores, Pecan Roll, and Matcha Brulee donuts. Both the drinks and donuts felt highly refined, and each menu item showcased its own distinct personality, which was impressive.
The Strawberry Matcha combined the freshness of strawberries with the flavor of matcha in a harmonious way, with each taste balanced without being overpowering. The TYS Cream Top was even more enjoyable with the addition of smooth cream, and its sweet flavor was prominent yet finished cleanly, which was impressive. In particular, the Key Lime Cream Top was one of the most memorable items during this visit; the zesty lime flavor and smooth cream blended beautifully, making it irresistibly tasty. The balance of sweetness and freshness was well-maintained, and overall, it felt like a highly refined drink.
The donuts exceeded expectations as well. The Smores caught my eye first with its cute bear cookie on top, and the combination of sweet flavors and soft texture made it very satisfying as a dessert. The toppings and donut blended naturally, allowing for enjoyment until the very last bite, and both the visuals and taste were impressive. The Pecan Roll centered around the rich flavor of pecans, complemented by just the right amount of sweetness, making it easy to enjoy. The Matcha Brulee was notable for its subtle bitterness from the matcha balanced with the sweetness of the brulee, and I appreciated how the flavors harmonized well together. Overall, the donuts felt just as refined as the drinks, and each menu item had its own distinct character, making it fun to share and enjoy a variety.

LADD Coffee is a place that showcases high quality in both drinks and desserts. It’s great for a quick stop inside Haven City Market, and it’s also a nice spot to spend leisurely time at the outdoor seating. The soft opening will be held from June 5 to 7, from 11 AM to 9 PM, and it will operate normally afterward, so if you’re interested, it would be a good idea to visit.
