Neapolitan Pizzeria
L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele, located in Hollywood, is a pizzeria that started in Naples, Italy in 1870, and is considered one of the top three pizzerias in Naples. It continues to uphold traditional Neapolitan cooking methods, preserving the authentic taste, allowing you to enjoy its rich history right here in LA. Upon entering, the clean and stylish interior caught my eye, and the space was quite spacious. There was a bar and a patio, and it seemed that many guests preferred dining outdoors, as most were enjoying their meals outside. We chose a table indoors for a quieter atmosphere.
For reference, there is valet parking available across from the restaurant, which costs $10 from 11 AM to 4 PM, and $14 afterward, so it’s good to keep that in mind when visiting. The menu here features a variety of Italian dishes from salads to pasta and pizza, and we decided to order Arancini, Linguine Pescatora, and Margherita Pizza.
The first dish to arrive was the Arancini, which had a crispy exterior and a soft interior, with cheese and tomato sauce creating a surprisingly rich flavor. I thought it would feel heavy, but it was surprisingly well-balanced and enjoyable without being overwhelming. Next came the Linguine Pescatora, featuring squid ink linguine loaded with seafood. The aroma was filled with the rich essence of the sea, and the squid, clams, and mussels were all fresh. The pasta absorbed the sauce well, keeping the flavor vibrant until the last bite. Finally, the Margherita pizza, a classic combination, had a great balance with the nuttiness of the cheese and the acidity of the tomato sauce. We added prosciutto, which deepened the flavor with its salty ham. However, personally, I found the pizza dough to be slightly salty, and it would have been better if that was toned down a bit. The pizza is quite large and generous in portion, so it’s good to keep that in mind when ordering.
