Korean Style Katsu
Last weekend, I went to the Pet Expo in the City of Brea and stopped for lunch at a restaurant called Lucky Pig nearby. We arrived about 15 minutes after it opened, but the tables were already full. Fortunately, there were seats available at the bar, so we could order and sit right away. It seems to be a popular restaurant, as many people lined up while we were eating, so if you dislike waiting, it might be best to go right at opening time.

At Lucky Pig, you order first and then sit at a table, and since the food is prepared from scratch after ordering, it was indicated that it would take about 20 minutes for the food to come out.

We ordered Cheese Katsu, Omurice, and Ball Katsu. The first dish was Cheese Katsu. Sitting at the bar, I could see the food being prepared in front of me, and I was already excited to see the chef torching the Cheese Katsu for an extra smoky flavor. Sure enough, when I took a bite of the cheese katsu, my mouth was filled with cheese and that smoky taste. If you love cheese, I highly recommend the Cheese Katsu, which is generously filled with cheese.
The second dish, Omurice, came with soft eggs and sauce drizzled over rice, and the rich sauce with a strong tomato flavor paired well with the rice inside the egg. The portion was so large that I took half of it home, and even reheated the next day, it was still delicious. The last dish was Ball Katsu. I thought this would be a small size for tasting as a starter, but the size of the ball was substantial enough to be a main dish. Ball Katsu is made with a mix of ground beef and pork, and you could feel the bouncy texture of the meat in your mouth, which was full of juice.
