New Smoothies
I recently heard that Oakberry launched new smoothies, so I was curious and decided to visit. I was excited to see what an acai-based smoothie would taste like, and I wondered if it would have a different charm compared to the existing acai bowls. The new smoothies include six varieties: Blue Fairy, Coffee Punch, Super Glow, Tropical Beats, Very Berry, and Zen Matcha, and we chose to order four of them.
The Coffee Punch is a smoothie made with acai, banana, and premium coffee powder, characterized by a smooth yet rich flavor. It’s not just a simple coffee smoothie; the unique freshness of acai blends naturally with the nuttiness of coffee, making it impressive. It’s great for a light drink or as a caffeine boost. Tropical Beats combines passion fruit, mango, and turmeric with acai, and the moment you take a sip, the tropical fruitiness bursts forth. The tangy acidity of passion fruit harmonizes with the natural sweetness of mango, while the turmeric adds a subtle depth, creating a refreshing yet exotic taste.
Very Berry is a smoothie blended with blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries along with coconut water, and the moment you take a sip, the sweet and tangy flavors of various berries spread across your palate. The subtle acidity of blueberries and raspberries leaves a clean finish, and thanks to the coconut water, the overall taste is light and refreshing. It’s a smoothie that berry lovers can enjoy without hesitation. Zen Matcha is a smoothie that harmonizes the unique bitterness of matcha with the nuttiness of oat milk, and from the first sip, you can feel a smooth yet balanced flavor. The freshness of acai adds a clean finish, allowing you to enjoy the deep taste of rich matcha smoothly.
Overall, the newly launched smoothies stood out with their unique personalities and harmonious flavors. From menus that maximize the freshness of fruits to smooth and nutty combinations, there’s a variety to choose from, making it fun to pick according to your taste. Personally, I would recommend the refreshing flavors of Tropical Beats and Very Berry. Since they are based on acai, they are healthy and enjoyable without feeling heavy, making them great for a quick meal or a light energy boost.
Not just acai, it’s Oakberry
Located in Playa Vista, Oakberry is a specialty acai bowl shop where you can enjoy light and healthy options during the hot summer months. It’s a place where you can taste superfood acai bowls made from small, deep purple berries that grow in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, offering fresh ingredients and a variety of topping options. Oakberry operates several locations throughout California, making it quite accessible.
Oakberry’s acai bowls come in three sizes: Classic, Works, and The Oak, allowing you to choose your desired size and add unlimited toppings to create your own acai bowl. Additionally, you can enjoy a variety of other menu items such as smoothies, snacks, and drinks, providing a wide range of choices based on your preferences.
We ordered the Works size Acai Bowl and the newly launched Passion Fruit Bowl for the summer menu. For the Works size bowl, we chose toppings of strawberries, bananas, blueberries, granola, almond butter, and chia pudding, and the abundance of fruit and the pure white chia pudding heightened our expectations right from the visual. The acai berry had a flavor reminiscent of blackberries mixed with a hint of chocolate, slightly tangy yet harmoniously sweet with the fruit and honey. In particular, the chia pudding added a fun texture, being jelly-like yet chewy. The Passion Fruit Bowl features the newly added Passion Fruit topping, making it a perfect choice for someone like me who loves Passion Fruit. Thanks to the refreshing Passion Fruit, the overall flavor became even more vibrant, making it a great option for a meal replacement or dessert when craving something sweet and tangy during the hot summer.
