Olle

Specialize in Steamed Cypress Wood Platters

Located on the first floor of the Oxford Palace Hotel in Koreatown, OLLE is a restaurant that presents Korean cuisine in a modern and tidy space. The interior features a clean and organized atmosphere, creating an environment where diners can enjoy their meals in a calm and comfortable setting.

This place is characterized by a menu centered around Steamed Cypress Wood Platters made from hinoki wood. During this visit, I ordered the smoked duck stew and broth bulgogi. The smoked duck stew was served with chives underneath, enhancing the overall flavor naturally, and the taste was impressively light and clean. Cooked by steaming, the ingredients retained their moisture well, resulting in a smooth texture. The accompanying mustard sauce and spicy sauce could be added according to personal preference, allowing for a different experience even with the same dish.

The broth bulgogi was visually appealing, layered beautifully, and filled with colorful vegetables like mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, and onions, making it look even more appetizing. The broth was served separately, allowing diners to cook it at the table, which added to the overall experience. The bulgogi was seasoned lightly, enhancing the flavor of the meat without being overwhelming, and it paired well with the broth. The broth was not overly heavy but had a subtle depth, making it perfect to enjoy with rice, and the dish flowed naturally with each bite. Adding the mustard sauce and spicy sauce allowed for a change in flavor according to personal taste, making the same dish feel different.

The side dishes served alongside were neatly prepared, with a balanced seasoning that complemented the main dishes without being overpowering. Each side dish contributed to the meal’s flow without disrupting it, enhancing the overall quality of the food.
