Contemporary Art Museum
The Broad, one of the famous art museums in LA, is a contemporary art museum located in downtown LA where you can view a collection of modern art from the 1950s to the present. It also introduces important artists of contemporary art and provides a lot of inspiration through exhibitions and various programs.
You can reserve a free General Admission on The Broad’s website before your visit, and depending on the time of your visit, you can also reserve tickets for ongoing exhibitions.
As of the time of writing this post, the Infinity Mirrored Room is also on display, and you can enter the mirror room to take photos, just like in the third picture above. Each group is given one minute, and you can experience the feeling of being in a space filled with light bulbs, as the name suggests. However, it can be a bit tricky to reserve compared to other exhibitions, as tickets open at 10 AM on the last Wednesday of each month. The Infinity Mirrored Room is quite popular, so tickets tend to sell out quickly during weekend hours, which is something to keep in mind.
Next, I would like to introduce the General Admission, which I believe many people visit The Broad to see.
General Admission is free, and you can encounter a variety of artworks that are hard to believe are free, featuring works by many artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, Kara Walker, Andy Warhol, and Christopher Wool. There are many fun and interesting pieces, so it’s definitely worth taking the time to visit.
The above photos were taken during my visit to the Keith Haring exhibition at The Broad, which has now ended. I was able to see a variety of works including videos, drawings, paintings, and graphic works by Keith Haring. He used walls in the streets and subways as his canvas, and it was evident that his simple lines, vibrant primary colors, and techniques filled with wit and humor captured the public’s attention.
