Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens
The Huntington Library, located in Pasadena, is a popular destination that combines a library, art museum, and beautiful botanical gardens. Especially on nice days, it’s perfect for a leisurely stroll through the gardens and enjoying various artworks. The operating hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM, and it’s worth noting that it is closed on Tuesdays when planning your visit.
Before entering, I recommend stopping by the Red Car Cafe located near the entrance, where you can find a variety of snacks and drinks such as coffee, tea, salads, and cookies, making it a great place to grab a quick bite or enjoy a beverage. It’s an ideal spot to relax for a moment before or after your walk or visit.
We have visited The Huntington Library about four times, and it is such a vast and interesting place that it never gets boring, even after multiple visits. The photos above were taken during a visit when a Disney-related exhibition was held, and one of the great advantages of this place is that it always hosts various exhibitions and events. The place shown in the photos above is one of the several gardens, the Desert Garden, which is a unique space filled with various cacti and succulents. The Huntington Library also has many beautiful flowers planted, so while walking, you can often encounter stunning landscapes filled with blooming flowers. Such scenery, harmonized with nature, offers visitors a delightful experience.
The peaceful atmospheres of the Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden are located close to each other, making it easy to explore both at once. On the way to the Japanese Garden, there are interesting artworks and unique plants that catch the eye. The harmonious landscapes of the two gardens offer enough charm to enjoy their distinct attractions.
After walking for about an hour, I felt a bit hungry and stopped by a café next to the Chinese Garden. I ordered wonton fries and mochi ice cream for a quick snack, and both dishes were surprisingly delicious, leaving me very satisfied. It was truly nice to take a break and enjoy such tasty food after the walk.
The various bonsai trees seen in the Japanese Garden are said to have been donated by many people to The Huntington Library. Each carefully tended bonsai conveys the affection and dedication of its donors, making them feel even more special. It took about 2 hours to look back and enjoy the bonsai before leaving. In addition to the places mentioned, The Huntington Library also has an art museum and various gardens, so taking your time to explore will surely lead to an even more enjoyable experience.
