Hawaiian-Korean Fusion Eatery
Located in DTLA, Broken Mouth gets its name from the Hawaiian expression ‘Broke Da Mout,’ which describes food so delicious that you don’t even have time to chew. Here, you can enjoy Hawaiian-Korean fusion dishes based on traditional Hawaiian home cooking. The exotic Hawaiian style combined with familiar Korean flavors allows for a unique yet comforting experience.

This place is one of our favorite restaurants that we visit often, and we frequently order delivery from here as well. On this day, we tried the Shrimp Plate and Beef Plate as our mains, along with Cucumber Kimchi and Potato Mac Salad as sides.

The Shrimp Plate features garlic butter shrimp served with salad and rice, making it a simple yet satisfying option. The shrimp is crispy and perfectly infused with rich garlic and buttery flavors that really whet the appetite, and the savory seasoning pairs well with the rice, making it hard to stop eating. The rice is sprinkled with seaweed flakes, adding an umami kick, while the salad provides a refreshing balance to the richness of the dish. The Beef Plate consists of beef coated in egg batter, reminiscent of Korean-style meat pancakes. The tender meat, well-marinated in a slightly sweet and savory sauce, is generously served, providing great satisfaction. Its soft and moist texture makes it perfect for pairing with rice. Dipping it in the accompanying soy sauce enhances the umami, filling the mouth with a delightful flavor. The combination of the seaweed flakes on the rice and the refreshing salad allows for a clean finish to every bite.
The Cucumber Kimchi, with its crunchy texture and subtle spiciness, complements the main dishes well. Its refreshing crunch and clean seasoning help cut through the richness, making it a staple side that we always order. The Potato Mac Salad is a classic mix of potatoes and macaroni, offering a nutty and slightly sweet flavor that is appealing. Its mild taste makes it a great accompaniment between the main dishes, enhancing the overall meal experience and providing high satisfaction.
