Modern Thai Dining
Located in Beverly Hills, the Thai restaurant La Ong showcases dishes based on recipes passed down from the chef’s grandmother. They use ingredients and produce sourced locally and directly from Thailand, aiming to preserve the original flavors as much as possible.

We visited right at the 11 AM opening time, and perhaps because it was brunch hours, we were given both the regular menu and the brunch & lunch menu. With a variety of Thai dishes available, we had quite a dilemma on what to choose, but we settled on the Herbaceous Chili Prawns and Sea Bass Southern Thai Curry, and ordered Lychee Black Tea to drink.

First, the Herbaceous Chili Prawns was a salad item, so I expected a small portion, but I was surprised by the generous serving. The plump shrimp topped with crispy onion flakes provided a great texture, and the combination of mint, cilantro, and Thai basil added a fragrant and exotic flavor. The strong herb aroma might be polarizing, but I enjoyed it without any hesitation. The Sea Bass Southern Thai Curry was actually a dish I ordered without much expectation, but surprisingly, it turned out to be the best of the day. The combination of crispy on the outside and moist on the inside sea bass with the rich curry sauce was excellent. The flavor of the curry was deep and intense, but it was a bit spicy for my taste. It would have been better if I could adjust the spiciness, but nonetheless, I was satisfied enough that I would want to order it again on my next visit. The Lychee Black Tea had a subtle lychee aroma that blended well with the deep flavor of the black tea, effectively balancing the spiciness of the food. It was clean and refreshing without any artificial taste, making it a great finish to the meal.
