Cozy Cafe with Specialty Coffee and Baked Goods
Located in San Diego, Rikka Fika is a cozy Japandi-style cafe where you can enjoy a variety of coffees, matcha, and freshly baked goods.
We arrived at the cafe around 9 AM, and since it’s such a popular spot, there was quite a long line and a bustling atmosphere even at that early hour. While waiting for our turn, we pondered over the menu and decided to order the most popular items: Strawberry Matcha Latte, Cold Brew Yuzu Fizz, Brown Sugar Croffle, and Red Bean and Butter Croissant Taiyaki.
First up was the highly anticipated Strawberry Matcha Latte, a drink that harmonized fresh strawberry compote with the slightly bitter matcha. It was not overly sweet, making it refreshing, and it seemed to have less milk than a regular latte, making it easy to enjoy. The Cold Brew Yuzu Fizz was a unique combination of zesty yuzu and rich cold brew, bursting with freshness from the very first sip. The deep, nutty flavor of the cold brew blended beautifully with the refreshing aroma of yuzu, providing a pleasant acidity throughout the drink.
The Brown Sugar Croffle was an attractive dessert with a crispy exterior and chewy texture, enhanced by the rich sweetness of brown sugar. Each bite released a delightful buttery aroma and intense sweetness, making us wish we had ordered more than one. The Red Bean and Butter Croissant Taiyaki featured soft croissant dough that harmonized the natural sweetness of red bean with the nuttiness of butter, making it a perfect dessert to enjoy with coffee.
