In this post, I would like to introduce Row DTLA, which consists of shops, restaurants, cafes, and offices, as well as Smorgasburg, which operates the largest outdoor food market in the United States, featuring a variety of food, drinks, and shopping.
Row DTLA has been transformed into a stylish and hip space, utilizing complex buildings that were once used as warehouses, bringing together concept shops, restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques. This might be why many people visit and come to take photos.
It operates from Monday to Sunday, from 8 AM to 10 PM, and parking in the adjacent lot is free for up to 2 hours.
Additionally, Row DTLA hosts various events, and the first photo was taken on the day of the Maum Market. The Maum Market is a market featuring Asian local businesses, where you can meet various brands and artists. There is an entrance fee of $5 + tax per person, and you can check the dates of the market on the website below.
Smorgasburg
No visit to Row DTLA is complete without Smorgasburg, which features around 100 small businesses offering food, drinks, and shopping, operating every Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM.
There are really many food trucks, but let me introduce a few of the dishes I had that day. The first one was the shrimp plate from Taste of the Pacific. It was a popular spot, so the line was really long. You can choose your desired sauce, and the shrimp were large and very delicious. The sauces I chose were Smackin and Honey Glazed, and personally, I found Smackin to be a bit tastier.
The second dish was the shrimp skewers and Elote from The Golden Skewer. Unlike the fried shrimp above, these were grilled, allowing me to taste the smoky flavor. If you prefer grilled over fried, these shrimp skewers would suit you better. The Elote was corn topped with cheese and mayonnaise, making it impossible for it to taste bad. Lastly, I had Sugarcane Juice from Sweetgrass; that day I tried the watermelon flavor, but the lychee, pineapple, and mango flavors are all delicious, making it a place I always look for whenever I visit Smorgasburg. Besides the food, there’s also a small flea market, so it would be nice to check that out as well.
