Wa-Iro

Cinnamoroll x Okayama Kobo Bakery & Cafe

Wa-Iro Bakery, newly opened in Pasadena, is a bakery inspired by Japanese traditions, embodying the meanings of harmony, balance, and color, just like its name ‘Wa-Iro’. The space features a minimal yet warm atmosphere, and being newly opened, it attracted many visitors, giving the store a lively vibe. Inside, there were simple seating arrangements for enjoying the treats, and many visitors opted to take their bread to go.

During this visit, I ordered the signature menu items Salt & Butter, Zopf, Honey Butter Toast, and Japanini, along with Banana Cream Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha Latte. Overall, the soft and light texture unique to Japanese bakeries was impressive, and it was great for sharing a variety of dishes.

Salt & Butter had a slightly salty flavor that enhanced the richness of the butter, and the texture was impressive with a light crispness on the outside and softness on the inside. Zopf had a fluffy texture that made it enjoyable in a simple way, and it paired well with other menu items without being overwhelming. Honey Butter Toast featured sweet red bean and butter inside, creating a delightful combination of sweetness and richness, making it perfect for dessert. Japanini combined basil, tomato, and cheese for a refreshing yet flavorful combination, and it was warm and satisfying enough to be a complete meal.

The drinks here were also noteworthy; the Banana Cream Matcha Latte blended the bitterness of matcha with the smooth sweetness of banana cream, creating a harmonious flavor. The Strawberry Matcha Latte offered a refreshing contrast between the fruity strawberry cream and matcha, making it easy to drink. Additionally, there were various types of beverages available, making it easy to choose according to personal preference.
