Gourmet Sausages and German/Belgian Beer Selection
Wurstküche means ‘sausage kitchen’ in German, and it is said to have opened in 2008 based on the idea of two young men in their twenties. I was curious about what these German-style sausages would taste like, so I decided to visit.

The design of the restaurant’s building may not look like a typical restaurant, but it turns out that this place was once part of the Warehouse District, which had many commercial buildings. Over time, it transformed into the Art District, and the commercial buildings were converted into restaurants. This gave the surrounding restaurants, cafes, and bars a unique vibe. Upon entering the restaurant, there is a transparent display refrigerator filled with various types of sausages, where you can order food directly. There is a variety of drinks available, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, so you can enjoy a good atmosphere even if you don’t drink. After ordering food and drinks, they immediately serve the drinks and give you a number plate. You can take the number plate to an outdoor table near the entrance or go inside to find seating, and shortly after, a staff member will bring your food.

We ordered Lamb With Mediterranean Spices (x2) and Filipino Maharlika. Toppings can be added for free, and we added Caramelized Onions to both dishes, along with Sweet Peppers and Sauerkraut to each. The table has Whole Grain, Honey Mustard, American Yellow, and Ketchup available, so you can add them according to your taste. The (x2) next to the menu item indicates that it contains two sausages, just so you know. The flavors of both hot dogs were delicious; the Lamb sausage had no gamey taste and was not salty, and you could think of it as similar to the flavor of lamb used in kebabs. The Filipino Maharlika sausage is based on sweet pork with soy sauce & ginger, and its sweet and slightly salty flavor was so good that, as the song lyrics say, ‘even if one of us collapses while eating together,’ we finished it in no time. You could really feel the quality of the sausages, as the flavors of each ingredient were well represented.
Additionally, we ordered Klein of Belgian Fries, and even though we ordered the smallest size, there was enough for both of us to share. If you usually eat less, it might be sufficient to order the small size and share. You can also choose a dipping sauce, so just request your preferred sauce. That day, we ordered Chipotle Aioli and additional Chipotle Ketchup, which paired very well with the fries, adding a slight spiciness.
