Pizza with Crispy Crust in a Lively Ambiance
Located in Echo Park, Quarter Sheets is famous for its delicious pizza and a variety of desserts, making it a bustling spot with people always gathered outside.
We had made a reservation in advance, which allowed us to be seated immediately without waiting. The exterior of the pizzeria was quite simple and unadorned, while the interior was decorated in a stylish yet hip manner, giving it a very unique vibe. To sample different types of pizza, we ordered one slice each of Red Top, Mike’s Baked Onion, Sicilian Corner, and Tomato Slice, along with Princess Cake and Ice Cream Coupe for dessert.
The pizzas we ordered arrived all at once, and the first one we tasted, Red Top, featured a classic combination of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and basil. The crust was incredibly crispy and chewy, maximizing the flavor of the pizza. Tomato Slice, which was similar to Red Top but with a different taste, had added ricotta cheese that was creamy and rich, enhancing the pizza’s flavor. Sicilian Corner was slightly larger than the other pizza slices, topped with sausage and pecorino cheese, which added a savory touch, complemented by sesame seeds for extra flavor. Lastly, Mike’s Baked Onion was personally my favorite; it had garlic cream that provided a rich garlic flavor, harmonizing beautifully with the cheese, and the addition of serrano pepper gave it a spicy kick. Even though I’m not a big fan of spicy food, the heat in this pizza was so appealing that I found myself drawn to it.
As we finished the pizzas, the desserts arrived, and I was already excited by their cute presentation. Princess Cake is one of Quarter Sheets’ popular desserts, featuring a soft and moist chiffon cake layered with creamy mascarpone and sweet raspberries, which were refreshing and perfectly balanced, especially since there was no artificial sweetness. The Ice Cream Coupe came with strawberry and lemon-flavored ice cream, both of which were incredibly refreshing and tangy, making them a perfect way to end the meal.
