Sato Ramen House

Japanese Eatery

The weather has been fluctuating between warm and cold lately. Last weekend, it rained and then suddenly turned chilly, so I was craving a warm soup dish and decided to go to Sato Ramen House for some ramen. Sato Ramen House is an authentic Japanese ramen restaurant located in Old Pasadena, and their goal is to provide the best ramen to customers using only the finest ingredients and techniques developed by artisans.

Since we arrived right when they opened, there were no customers when we walked in, but by the time our food arrived, the place was packed. We ordered Takoyaki, Shoyu Ramen, and Tonkotsu Ramen.

The Takoyaki came out first, and we could choose between 6pcs and 8pcs, so we ordered the 6pcs. Takoyaki is always a reliable appetizer, and the ones here had larger pieces with plenty of bonito flakes and sauce on top, making them incredibly delicious.

Next, the Shoyu Ramen and Tonkotsu Ramen arrived. The Shoyu Ramen is made with chicken broth and soy sauce, and it was perfectly seasoned without being salty. The Tonkotsu Ramen is made with bone broth, and it felt slightly clearer than the usual tonkotsu ramen I’m used to. If you’re expecting a rich and thick style of tonkotsu ramen, you might be disappointed. Personally, I often find tonkotsu ramen to be a bit heavy, so I actually enjoyed this ramen more. The noodles were incredibly chewy, and since the noodles themselves were delicious, the ramen felt elevated. Both ramens were tasty, so you can choose based on your preference.
